PM Dahal meets President Paudel to address political deadlock
KATHMANDU: On Sunday, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal held a meeting with President Ram Chandra Poudel, following earlier discussions with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and the party’s chief whip, Ramesh Lekhak.
The focus of the meeting between PM Dahal and President Poudel, according to the President’s Secretariat, was to address pressing political issues confronting the nation amidst ongoing parliamentary obstruction by opposition parties.
The obstruction, primarily led by Nepali Congress and other political parties, centers around the demand for a probe committee to investigate the cooperative fraud case, with suspicions raised regarding the involvement of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane. Consequently, disruptions have been witnessed in the ongoing budget session of parliament.
Despite the parliamentary impasse, Nepali Congress has signaled its readiness to allow President Poudel to present the government’s policies and programs during the scheduled parliament meeting on May 14. As political discussions persist in efforts to resolve the deadlock, stakeholders are striving to ensure the smooth functioning of governmental proceedings.
