Nepal and Qatar strengthen bilateral ties with signing of 8 agreements and MoUs
KATHMANDU: Nepal and Qatar have strengthened their bilateral relations through the signing of eight significant agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during the state visit of Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar. These agreements were the result of extensive bilateral discussions between Emir Al Thani and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, with delegations from both countries present to witness the historic occasion.
As Emir Al Thani concluded his two-day state visit to Nepal and departed for home, the agreements and MoUs signed between the two nations lay the groundwork for enhanced cooperation and collaboration.
The agreements include:
1. Nepal's Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation and the Ministry of Culture of the State of Qatar cemented their commitment to cooperation in culture and arts through the Memorandum of Understanding.
2. The National News Agency, Nepal (RSS), and Qatar News Agency (QNA) sealed an agreement for cooperation and the exchange of news.
3. Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Cooperation in the Field of Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research between the Government of Nepal and the Government of the State of Qatar
4. A Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Youth and Sports was signed between the Government of Nepal and the Government of the State of Qatar, aiming to enhance collaboration in these areas.
5. A partnership agreement was forged between the Office of the Attorney General of Nepal and the Public Prosecution of the State of Qatar, as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation.
6. Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Diplomatic Training and Education between The Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA) of the Government of Nepal and The Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar
7. The Joint Business Council (JBC) was established following the signing of the Agreement between Qatar Chamber and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI).
8. The renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) reaffirmed the commitment between Qatar Chamber and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI).
These agreements signify a deepening of cooperation across various sectors, including culture, education, sports, law, diplomacy, and commerce, thereby strengthening the bilateral relations between Nepal and Qatar.
