PM open to establishing parliamentary committee on cooperative case
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has reportedly shown willingness to entertain the establishment of a parliamentary committee to investigate the cooperative case involving Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane. This openness was expressed following a meeting held at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar. During the meeting, Chief Whip of the Nepali Congress, Ramesh Lekhak, conveyed the party's demand for an inquiry into Lamichhane's alleged involvement in the cooperative case.
Lekhak stated that Prime Minister Dahal responded positively to the proposal, indicating a readiness to address the matter. He emphasized that the Nepali Congress had underscored the necessity of a parliamentary inquiry committee regarding cooperatives, and the Prime Minister had shown receptivity to this concern. This development was regarded as positive by Lekhak, who noted that the dialogue with the Prime Minister had been centered on this issue, resulting in an affirmative response from him.
The Chief Whip of the Nepali Congress highlighted the significance of the Prime Minister's response, characterizing it as a positive development. He mentioned that the party had presented its stance on the matter, and the Prime Minister had responded affirmatively, indicating a willingness to engage with the issue further. Lekhak indicated that the Nepali Congress would deliberate on the outcomes of the meeting during its central working committee meeting scheduled for the following day, followed by a parliamentary party meeting.
Lekhak further stated that additional decisions would be made by the Nepali Congress based on the discussions and outcomes of Monday's parliamentary party meeting. This suggests that the party is actively engaged in the process of addressing the issue and is prepared to take further action based on the developments arising from the meetings held to discuss the cooperative case involving Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.
