Newly-appointed Chief Minister of Koshi Province seeks vote of confidence today
KATHMANDU: Today, the newly-appointed Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Hikmat Karki, is set to seek a vote of confidence, with arrangements being made to present the proposal during the provincial assembly meeting scheduled for 11 am.
Speaker of the Provincial Assembly, Ambar Bahadur Bista, affirmed that the vote of confidence for Chief Minister Karki is included in today's agenda, indicating a pivotal moment in the province's political landscape.
However, the Nepali Congress, the principal opposition party, has raised objections, advocating for a delay in the confidence vote due to an ongoing court case concerning the Koshi government. Despite this, the ruling parties, CPN-UML and the Maoist Center, are determined to proceed with the confidence vote agenda.
Before the assembly convenes, there will be a session of the working arrangement consultation committee, setting the stage for discussions and deliberations regarding the proposed vote of confidence. Karki assumed office as Chief Minister for the third time on May 9, adding further significance to today's proceedings.
