Dan Ashworth breaks silent as Manchester United agree on second summer agreement following Newcastle United blow
The 53-year-old made his official move to Old Trafford on Monday after a five-month garden leave. The Magpies initially demanded a compensation of £20m before completing the deal, but the details remained confidential. Ashworth has hit the ground running and has already been involved in some big news involving manager Erik ten Haag.
Ten Haag has signed a new contract with Manchester United three weeks after it was confirmed that he will stay on as manager of the club. The Dutchman's contract runs until June 2026 and the role is expected to change slightly as the Ten Witches integrate into the Ineos football structure.
Commenting on Ten Haag's contract extension, Ashworth said: “With two trophies in the last two seasons, Eric has cemented his record as one of the most consistently successful managers in European football. "While the club's review of last season highlighted areas for improvement, it also made it clear that Eric is our best partner in raising standards and results.
"This group of players and staff have proven they are capable of competing and winning at the highest level; now we need to do it more consistently. With our strengthened football management team now in place, we look forward to working with Eric to deliver our shared ambitions for this football club.
