Chelsea confirm Omari Hutchinson's exit as Arsenal receives financial boost
Chelsea have confirmed the departure of Omari Hutchinson on a club record deal for newly promoted Ipswich Town.
The 20-year-old played on loan at Portman Road last season, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists in the Tractor Boys' promotion campaign. "We wish Omari the best of luck as he embarks on a new chapter in his career and thank him for all his efforts while at the Blues," Chelsea said in a statement on their website.
Stuttgart were keen on the striker, but Sport understands Ipswich were always the frontrunners and they have now confirmed his arrival on a five-year deal. "We are delighted to have brought Omari back on a permanent basis," Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna told the club's website.
“We all enjoyed working with Omari last season and the staff, his teammates and supporters saw him grow and develop throughout the year which is testament to the hard work he put in. “The impact he had on the team throughout the season, especially in the second half, showed that and he, like many of his teammates, played a big part in the club's success.
"We believe Omari is an outstanding player and someone who is worthy of the club in the long term. He wants to improve and prove he can compete and succeed in the Premier League.
Hutchinson's move will also benefit Arsenal, who will sell the winger back to the Blues in 2022 after seven years with the Gunners.
