Rising cases of dengue and cholera across Nepal
KATHMANDU: A considerable increase in dengue and cholera incidence is among the many locations of Nepal that are being affected by vector-borne and waterborne diseases. The Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) reports that during the previous seven and a half months, dengue has infected 2,365 people in 73 districts, resulting in one fatality. Every province has seen a dengue case, however, Bagmati Province has recorded the greatest number of infections, followed by Gandaki and Koshi Provinces. There have been 287 occurrences in the Kathmandu Valley alone.
The dissection of dengue cases indicates significant numbers in Kaski, Jhapa, Chitwan, and Tanahu, indicating the disease's pervasiveness. Thirty cases of cholera have been confirmed nationwide, and the number of cases is rapidly increasing. But as of yet, no cholera-related deaths have been documented.
The rise in these illnesses serves as a reminder of the continuous problems in public health. As the nation continues to struggle with these health concerns, efforts to prevent and control the spread of cholera and dengue are crucial.
