Nationwide IPV vaccination campaign begins in Nepal
KATHMANDU: Today marks the commencement of the Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV) vaccination campaign nationwide, targeting a total of 1.46 million children. Abhiyan Gautam, head of the Central Vaccination Campaign, confirmed the rollout of the campaign across all 77 districts of Nepal. Additionally, the IPV vaccine is being made available at regular vaccination centers.
Gautam emphasized that children who missed their regular polio vaccinations between 2073 to 2075 BS will be covered under this campaign, which extends until June 8. Despite Nepal's polio vaccination efforts starting in 2071, a hiatus occurred between 2073 to 2075 due to a global shortage of the IPV vaccine.
