Health Ministry launches measures to combat cholera and dengue outbreaks
KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population in Nepal has launched several programs to combat the rising number of cholera and dengue cases. Health Minister Pradip Paudel has instructed officials to act quickly and thoroughly to address the situation appropriately as the number of cases reported climbs.
Under the direction of the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, the Ministry has sent out Rapid Response Teams to work with municipal and provincial authorities in impacted areas. To stop the spread of cholera, these teams are concentrating on tracking and identifying people who have come into touch with sick patients.
Furthermore, initiatives are underway to enhance food safety and drinking water quality. In order to address concerns with water quality, Minister Paudel's Secretariat has partnered with regional stakeholders. Additionally, initiatives are underway to improve food quality monitoring at all governmental levels.
The Ministry is getting ready to create the 2024–2030 National Cholera Control and Prevention Plan. The objective of this plan is to offer a long-term approach to controlling and averting cholera outbreaks, guaranteeing a stronger reaction to upcoming medical emergencies.
