Cholera case confirmed in 16-year-old boy in Lalitpur
KATHMANDU: The Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital is now treating a 16-year-old boy in Lalitpur, who has been diagnosed with cholera. The boy, who resides in Thaiba, Godawari Municipality-14, is a resident of a rehabilitation center. Following the required testing at the National Public Health Laboratory, he tested positive for cholera.
Four youths were hospitalized and began to show symptoms of cholera. Among these cases, one was confirmed while three others are under investigation. Another patient was being treated at the ICU, but the two others left the hospital on Monday.
To stop the disease from spreading further, the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has ordered an investigation into the rehabilitation facility. About 10 cases of diarrhea are reported each day at the hospital, an increase in patients with the illness in recent times.
