PM Dahal reaffirms government's commitment to citizen health at NAMS anniversary event
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has reiterated the government's unwavering dedication to prioritizing the health of citizens, emphasizing its sensitivity to the well-being of the population. Speaking at an event marking the 22nd Establishment Day of the National Academy of Health Sciences (NAMS) in Kathmandu, the Prime Minister underscored the government's commitment to upholding citizens' fundamental rights.
Prime Minister Dahal emphasized that the implementation of fundamental rights is of paramount importance for the government, reflecting its profound respect for the struggles and sacrifices made to secure them. He highlighted the government's focus on social security programs within healthcare services, including the allocation of 2,800 beds in government-run health facilities for patients from impoverished and vulnerable communities.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister announced provisions for free vaccines against uterine and breast cancers, showcasing the government's proactive approach to addressing critical health needs. He stressed the significance of dedicating 10 percent of all hospital beds, irrespective of ownership, to indigent and helpless individuals, underlining the importance of enhancing citizens' rights.
Prime Minister Dahal urged NAMS to play a pivotal role in improving citizens' access to quality healthcare services, pledging full support to elevate NAMS to international academic standards through collaborations with national and foreign academic institutions. He highlighted his administration's efforts to enhance service delivery at Bir Hospital, prioritizing the full operationalization of all beds and operation rooms, and expanding services to two shifts.
