KATHMANDU: The international painting and sculpture exhibition, which included pieces by 59 women artists from Bangladesh, India, and Nepal, came to an end on Sunday at the Nepal Art Council. Over the five-day event, 194 paintings were showcased, including notable pieces by 16-year-old Shusmita Jimee from Nepal, who depicted Mt. Machhapuchre and women's household contributions. The exhibition was inaugurated by Bangladeshi Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury and former Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts Ragini Upadhaya Grela, with special guests Sushma Rajbhandari and Dr. Seema Shah.
Artists utilized various media, such as acrylic on canvas, charcoal sketches, and watercolors, drawing art enthusiasts of all ages. Among the notable participants were Bangladeshi artist Lubna Habib, who returned to fine arts after a break, and Indian artist Iti Bhattacharya, whose minimalistic acrylic painting "Solitary" garnered significant attention. Anuradha Thapa, a 46-year-old Nepali artist, showcased her artwork featuring Lord Buddha, emphasizing the value of exhibitions like these in uplifting artists and encouraging the next generation.
The show was organized by Spread Wings in India, Ghuddi in Bangladesh, and Lalitya Kala Jagaran in Nepal with the goal of promoting creative and cultural exchanges between the three nations.
