Exam stress leads three students to ingest poison in Nepal
KATHMANDU: Three students from Bardibas, Mahottari's Nirmal Lama Polytechnic Institute consumed poison after experiencing mental stress due to subpar performance on internal exams. The students had congregated in a wooded area of Bardibas Municipality-4 on Monday night when the tragedy happened.
One of the students tragically passed away due to poisoning, while the other two are currently receiving medical treatment at Shubha Swostik Hospital in Bardibas. The students, studying Geometry, were from Dhangadhimai Municipality-2 and Mahottari in Siraha, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Santulal Prasad Jaiswar.
The previous Sunday was the start of the institute's internal exams. According to preliminary findings, the kids experienced severe emotional distress after consuming poison after learning they had not done well on their first exam.
The event was discovered when one of the girls arrived at the hospital on her own and informed the staff of what had transpired. The cops then started looking for the others.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rewati Raman Pokharel stated that one of the girls was found unconscious in the forest at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, while another girl arrived at the hospital earlier that morning at 8 a.m.
The three students are suspected by the authorities of consuming poison as a group response to the stress of their exams. They were under tremendous pressure following the poor outcomes, as seen by their well-coordinated activities.
To learn more about the events that preceded the catastrophe, the authorities are still conducting their investigation. Concerns have been raised by the tragedy regarding the mental health issues that kids who are under academic pressure confront.
The significance of addressing students' mental health concerns and giving them the assistance they need to manage academic stress is brought home by this example.
