Turkish Airlines plane overshoots runway at TIA due to missed approach
KATHMANDU: At Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu this morning, a Turkish Airlines aircraft traveling from Istanbul overshot the runway. Due to the incident, the plane, which was initially scheduled to land at 6:10 am, landed down 20 minutes later.
The TIA Office attributed the overshoot to a 'missed approach,' while an Air Traffic Controller (ATC) identified an 'unstable approach' as the primary cause. An overshoot in aviation refers to landing beyond the intended point on the runway or missing it altogether.
