PM Dahal eyes foreign collaboration for Nepal's international airports
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' announced his plans to involve foreign companies in the operation of all three international airports of Nepal while answering the queries raised during Thursday's House of Representatives meeting. He gave special priority to Pokhara International Airport.
PM Dahal argued that the airports in Nepal are under active discussion to be operated via international collaboration, citing encouraging developments. He stressed the need for such collaboration, considering the operational hassles of some Nepal-based airports, especially Pokhara and Gautam Buddha International Airport, due to the restricted air routes by India.
There are, at present, three international airports in Nepal: Tribhuvan International Airport, Pokhara International Airport, and Gautam Buddha International Airport. The promise of involvement from abroad may be the needed impetus to ease out operational hurdles, more so as regards restrictions on air space, in order to serve the efficiency and efficacy of airport operations.
