Karnali Highway reopened after landslide obstructions
KATHMANDU: The Karnali Highway, which had been blocked by landslides in Pili, Kalyankhola, and Birtamod along the Surkhet-Jumla route, has been reopened. The road was cleared and became operational this morning after the landslides were removed.
Bir Bahadur GT, an information officer at the road division office in Jumla, confirmed the highway's reopening and noted that the road had been temporarily closed due to minor landslides in the affected areas. He also mentioned that upgrading the highway presents challenges due to budget constraints.
Maintenance work is ongoing, with available resources being utilized to the fullest extent. Local residents have called for immediate upgrades to the road to prevent future disruptions and ensure more reliable access.
