Domestic flights resume as weather conditions improve in Kathmandu
KATHMANDU: Domestic flights have begun operating again since the weather in Kathmandu and throughout the nation has improved. Air travel is now able to resume normally as operations at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and eight other airports have resumed.
The General Manager of TIA, Jagannath Niraula, has declared that flights operating under the Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) system are allowed till 10:00 PM this evening. This restart follows more than 400 flight cancellations on Friday and Saturday due to extreme weather.
An average of 150 to 160 flights are handled by TIA every day. Recent changes to travel plans due to bad weather have caused annoyance for passengers.
All airports have resumed regular flying services, but Surkhet is still the only one where they haven't started back up, suggesting that certain areas are still having difficulties.
