Tragic landslides in Solukhumbu claims 5 lives
KATHMANDU: Five people were tragically killed when a landslide swept up two houses in wards 9 and 10 of Solududhakunda Municipality, Solukhumbu. The region is still seeing a lot of rain, which has resulted in unfortunate events.
A local resident named Dimadawa Sherpa's house was destroyed by a landslide, killing 23-year-old Lhamu Sherpa from Solududhakund-2 and her seven-month-old son Phurba Lhopsang Sherpa. Additionally, the same tragedy claimed the life of 29-year-old Reena Tamang, who was visiting a nursing facility in ward 9.
Another landslide, in a separate incident, claimed the lives of Kavita Magar, 33, and Rupu Magar, 24, both of Chailung in Solududhakunda Municipality-10. The house belonged to Tek Bahadur Magar and was made of wood, stone, and mud.
Yangji Sherpa, 62, was injured in the landslide, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dwarika Prasad Ghimire. He is presently receiving medical attention at Wangchu Memorial Hospital in Tapting, Solududhakunda Municipality-10.
