Arsenal 'Will be Busy' This Summer, With £85 million Star Admired
Arsenal are in the market for a striker this summer and are likely to be busy in the transfer window amid rumors that a move for Viktor Gjoker is imminent, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has told GIVEMESPORT.
Benjamin Cesko's failed move aside, few serious links have emerged with the Gunners so far. However, reports emerged earlier this week that a deal for prolific Sporting CP striker Jakes is close to being completed, with Fabrizio Romano previously revealing that nothing is imminent.
The 26-year-old is said to have a release clause of around £85million, but could be sold for less and Sheth believes that could become a stumbling block in talks between the two clubs. However, the Sky Sports reporter insisted this was an area the north London club are looking to address this summer and that he expects significant transfer activity at the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta's hunt for a new centre-forward has been well-documented and after the Sesko move fell through, reports suggested attention was turning to Gyokeres. The Swede, who scored 43 times in 50 games last season, has the physical and technical qualities Arteta wants in his squad and has been described as "excellent" by journalist Hrac Kvachatryan.
While not ruling out the Gyokers, Sheth suggested the player's release clause is heavy, but claimed the Gunners will be busy this transfer window. Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he said:
With the European Championships ongoing, and clubs waiting for June to come to a close so that the financial year ends, transfer activity has been understandably limited thus far. However, once July commences and the Euros begins to see more teams exit the competition, Arsenal will be eager to kick-start their transfer plans, with the new season just around the corner. Kai Havertz left a deep impression on the back end of the last campaign, but Arteta is looking for extra quality of the stadium. Although Gyokers is still a choice, the club is also related to Alexander Isak, Joshua Zirkzee and Victor Osimhen. As well as adding to their forward line, Arsenal are looking to provide Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard with a top player to complete the midfield three. Bruno Guimaraes is believed to be a player of "genuine interest" but last season's Premier League runners-up will compete with Manchester City for his signature. Instead, you could look at cheaper alternatives. Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi has been watched for some time, but the club's hierarchy face a tough challenge in convincing the 25-year-old to leave his homeland. Meanwhile, Arsenal have made contact with Everton over a potential deal for Amadou Onan, who the Toffees value at £50m.
