X is blocking links to Signal
X users are currently unable to expose Signal.me links used to quickly and securely connect signals to users. The report suggests that attempting to share these links will trigger errors that mark errors that may be spam, harmful or malicious. While Signal.me connections are blocked, similar services such as Signal.org links and Telegram are not required.
This signal is widely used by journalists and informants for its encryption, and is particularly relevant to blocks. In addition to preventing public messages and direct messages containing signal.me links, x can't restrict users from pressing generic links or adding signal.me links to the BIOS.
X was previously blocked or blocked to competing platforms such as Facebook, Mastodon, Supack, and the signal is not a direct opponent. It remains unknown if the block is intentional, but the signal user handle can be used as a workaround in X. X has not yet answered a request for this question.
