Nepal launches second sustainable e-stop in Kurintar
KATHMANDU: The unveiling of the thee GO e-stop in Kurintar on Saturday has heralded a significant transformation in Nepal's highway travel landscape, marking the second addition to the country's network of sustainable rest stops. Participants at the inaugural ceremony lauded the facility's development as a watershed moment in Nepal's march toward sustainable transportation.
According to organizers, the e-stop boasts the nation's largest privately owned EV charging station facility, building upon the success of the first e-stop operating in Ramtar, Mulkot, for the past year. The inauguration ceremony in Kurintar saw the presence of Kulman Ghising, the managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority, along with other dignitaries including industry leaders, foreign partners, and sustainability advocates. Ghising's participation emphasized the initiative's strategic importance in increasing EV adoption and helping Nepal's goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions.
In his inaugural speech, Ghising emphasized the role of the thee GO e-stop in advancing sustainable infrastructure in Nepal's transportation sector. He highlighted the facility's contribution to a greener and more sustainable future, emphasizing the importance of promoting electric vehicles for reducing carbon footprint and ensuring energy independence. The thee GO e-Stop in Kurintar is equipped with EV charging stations, a restaurant offering meals, and accessible public restrooms, all aimed at enhancing traveler comfort and convenience.
Rajan Rayamajhi, chairman of the GO group of companies, expressed gratitude to the guests and partners for their contributions to the project's success. He characterized the thee GO e-Stop as more than just a pit stop but rather a vision realized, dedicated to setting a new standard for travel convenience while actively reducing carbon emissions. As discussions on the future of sustainable travel unfolded during the event, organizers reiterated the thee GO e-stop's commitment to expanding its network across Nepal, providing comprehensive, eco-friendly travel solutions to travelers nationwide.
