Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba departs for Canada
KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Arju Rana Deuba, departed Nepal for Canada on Monday evening to attend a meeting of women foreign ministers in Toronto, scheduled for September 19. She was seen off at Tribhuvan International Airport by Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal and senior officers of the Foreign Ministry.
Women foreign ministers from more than 15 nations will come together for the two-day conference, which is co-organized by Jamaica and Canada. The topics of discussion will be women's representation in leadership, government, and public office, as well as the difficulties they encounter.
Dr. Rana is scheduled to speak at the meeting, highlighting the value of female leadership and their function in government. She will depart for the United States to take part in the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York after the meeting.
On September 21, she will travel to New York to accompany the Nepali delegation headed by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Foreign Minister Rana will hold bilateral discussions and give presentations at a number of forums when she is there.
Dr. Rana will lead a Nepali team to Doha for the third Asia Cooperation Dialogue summit on October 2-3, following her participation in UNGA sessions and related events.
She will speak to the assembly at the summit in Doha on behalf of Nepal, promoting regional collaboration and communication among Asian countries.
The fact that Minister Rana is attending these international conferences shows Nepal's involvement in international diplomacy, especially in the areas of encouraging women's leadership and regional cooperation.
She is scheduled to return to Nepal after the completion of her engagements in Doha on October 4.
