NEPSE drops by 57 points, with losses led by the finance sector
By the end of the trading day on Monday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index had dropped by 57.03 points, or 2.16%. It had closed at 2,580.76 points.
Not only did the benchmark index collapse, but so did the Sensitive Index, which monitors the performance of Class 'A' equities, falling by 1.82%, and the Float Index, which represents shares that are actively traded, falling by 2.15%.
Every sector was losing money, but the finance sector lost the most, declining by 5.66%.
17,061,807 shares of 312 firms were exchanged during the day's trading, resulting in a turnover of Rs 7.3 billion and 92,815 transactions.
The entire market capitalization was Rs 4.103 trillion at the close of trading.
