Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Jokh Bahadur Mahara resigns
KATHMANDU: On Sunday, Jokh Bahadur Mahara tendered his resignation as the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province. After the CPN-UML, who had previously supported his cabinet, withdrew its support, he resigned. Mahara resigned from his position as soon as it became clear he would not receive the required number of votes, despite his scheduled vote of confidence.
Following the CPN-UML's withdrawal and the formation of a new coalition with the Nepali Congress, UML parliamentary party leader Lila Giri is expected to be named Lumbini Province's next chief minister.
