Ministry of Education initiates data collection on NGO activities in education sector
KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology initiated a plan to collect complete data on the operations of national and international organizations, including non-governmental organizations (NGOs), in the education sector. The government has filed a public notice, demanding that these entities give specific information within 15 days.
Education Minister Sumana Shrestha is leading this effort to address the government's current lack of a systematic information system concerning the number and scope of NGO activities in education. According to sources from Minister Shrestha's private secretariat, the aim is to gather accurate data that will enable the ministry to better understand the landscape of educational initiatives supported by NGOs.
The information will be obtained and then utilized to identify issues with the distribution of resources in the education sector. With the ultimate objective of coming up with workable solutions to improve educational performance across the nation, the ministry intends to examine the data to identify any regions where resources may be insufficient or misapplied.
With the goal of promoting a more unified and effective approach to educational development in Nepal, this effort highlights the ministry's dedication to enhancing the coordination and control of NGO operations in the field of education.
