Indian national arrested at TIA for attempted gold smuggling
KATHMANDU: Police at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) arrested an Indian national on Monday night for attempting to smuggle 99 grams and 41 milligrams of yellow metal resembling gold. Central Police Spokesperson DIG Dan Bahadur Karki confirmed the arrest of 41-year-old Deepak Jayaram Das Ghind.
Ghind was intercepted during customs inspection upon his arrival in Kathmandu from Sharjah via an Air Arabia flight. Along with the yellow metal, authorities also confiscated one necklace piece, two bangle pieces, four mobile phones, and four laptops from Ghind's possession.
Investigations into the attempted smuggling are presently underway to determine additional details and potential consequences of the occurrence.
