Renowned Nepali actor CP Lohani passes away at 86
KATHMANDU: Chidambar Prasad Lohani, popularly known as CP Lohani, the prominent actor in Nepal's pioneering privately produced film 'Maitighar,' has passed away at the age of 86. He breathed his last on Monday at 1:30 PM due to complications arising from Alzheimer's disease, as confirmed by the Film Artists Association.
Lohani, who had been under medical care at Annapurna Neuro Hospital in Kathmandu, is scheduled to be cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat at 4 PM on Monday. This announcement was made by the President of the Film Artist Association, Mohan Niraula.
Apart from his acting prowess, Lohani was also a skilled singer and had recorded songs for Radio Nepal. His voice left an indelible mark on the iconic 'Maitighar,' and his final recorded piece was 'Punaragman.' Additionally, he was known as the husband of Mala Sinha, a celebrated actress in Nepali, Hindi, and Bengali cinema. The couple shared a daughter together.
