Former MP Ramchandra Rai brutally murdered in Sarlahi
KATHMANDU: Former MP Ramchandra Rai was brutally murdered by an unknown group using sharp weapons in Sarlahi. The attackers struck Rai on the head while he was asleep in his home in Ratanpur, Chandranagar Rural Municipality-1, around 1 am, according to Sarlahi Police Spokesperson DSP Deepak Shrestha.
After learning about the murder of 80-year-old Rai, a team led by Sarlahi Police Chief SP Rabindra Bahadur Singh and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Yagya Binod Pokharel from Madhesh Province quickly arrived at the location. The murderer's motivation is still undetermined.
DSP Shrestha confirmed that an investigation is underway. A trained dog has been deployed to assist in uncovering the details of the crime.
