CIB probes murder of former State Minister Ram Chandra Rai
KATHMANDU: An investigation has been opened by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) into the death of former State Minister Ram Chandra Rai. Tuesday's House of Representatives (HoR) meeting featured updates on the case from Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. Lekhak reports that a CIB team has been sent to Sarlahi to investigate the event. It has been established that Rai's left side of the head was injured with a sharp object.
An axe, found in a bamboo bush 50 meters northwest of the crime scene, is being investigated as a potential murder weapon. The discovery of this item could be a significant lead in the ongoing investigation.
Minister Lekhak also revealed that Ramdev Rai, an employee who worked at the victim's residence, has been detained for questioning by the police. His detention suggests that the authorities are closely examining connections between the staff and the crime.
On Sunday night, the 80-year-old former minister was sadly discovered dead in his bed at his home in Chandranagar Rural Municipality-1. A sharp weapon has been used to assassinate Rai, a citizen of Malangawa Municipality-4. Authorities are still looking into the incident in an effort to determine the perpetrators' identity and motivation.
