OpenAI Offers ChatGPT Enterprise to U.S. Federal Agencies for Just $1/yr
OpenAI has entered into a partnership with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) that enables ChatGPT Enterprise to be made available to all of the federal agencies for $1.00 per agency for 12 months. One of the goals of this partnership is to provide federal agencies with the necessary tools to incorporate AI tools into their operations, and to ensure agencies have a model for how to effectively use these tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness and spur innovation.
This partnership builds off the Trump administration's AI Action Plan, which was a call for more roads to adoption of AI technology within the federal climb.
This agreement presents agencies with more than just a discounted rate to access ChatGPT Enterprise - OpenAI will provide unlimited access to an advanced AI model for all federal employees for 60 days along with specialized training resources, and a new government user community. The GSA stated this will be a cautious, security-first, approach to opening up AI capabilities to agencies and allows agencies to be efficient and effective, while maintaining sensitive information security.
This is big news for OpenAI as it joins fellow tech giants Google and Anthropic, who were also approved as AI vendors, for federal usage. This news continues to reflect the strong trend of AI adoption within government.
