
Two Killed, Seven Injured in Jeep Accident in Palpa
KATHMANDU: A jeep accident in Bihadi rural municipality, Palpa, claimed the lives of two people and left seven others injured early this morning. The vehicle, bearing registration number Lu 1 Ja 4460, veered off due to brake failure, according to the District Police Office, Parbat.
The victims, identified as 61-year-old Min Prasad Upadhyay from Ranipani, Bihadi-3, and 64-year-old Dil Kumari Bhattachan from Kaligandaki rural municipality-4 in Gulmi, died on the spot, confirmed DSP Rabin Bista. Â
Authorities have yet to determine the identities of the injured passengers. However, six of them, who sustained serious injuries, have been transferred to Palpa for advanced medical care, while a baby boy with minor injuries is receiving treatment at a local health post. Â
The accident took place at Lidi, Bihadi, while the jeep was heading to Waling in Syangja from Purtighat in Kaligandaki rural municipality, Gulmi. It has been identified that the collision happened due to brake failure followed by loss of control over the vehicle. Â
Police have started an investigation to find out more about the collision. Authorities are also examining the incident associated with brake failure to know if there are other underlying issues.
