Ratan Tata passed away at Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital on late Wednesday night.
Ratan Tata, one of India's reputed industrialists and former chairman of Tata Sons, passed away on October 9, 2024, at the age of 86. He had been undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for age-related health issues. Despite recent reports suggesting his condition was stable, his health deteriorated in the past few days. Ratan Tata's death marks the end of an period for Indian growing Industry, as he was necessary in the global expansion of the Tata Group, with notable accessions similar as Jaguar Land Rover and Tetley Tea.
Tributes poured in from across the nation. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called him an "extraordinary human being" and a visionary leader, while Maharashtra has declared a day of mourning and arranged a state funeral. His body will be kept at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in Mumbai for public homage before the final rites at the Worli crematorium.
