Regular flights resume at Resunga Airport after two-month hiatus
KATHMANDU: Due to bad weather, regular flights from Resunga Airport in Gulmi were suspended for about two months. However, those flights have already resumed. Better weather allowed for the resumption of operations, which were flown by Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC). Twelve passengers from Kathmandu came on the first day when operations were resumed.
Weekly flights on Fridays are planned, weather permitting. Resunga Airport is permitted to conduct three weekly flights; however, since June 28, operations have been halted. It is anticipated that the early morning flights from Kathmandu would arrive at 6:30 AM and take out at 7:45 AM.
This route is currently flown by NAC Twin Otter aircraft. There is a flight ticket price of Rs 7,080 from Gulmi to Kathmandu and Rs 7,280 from Kathmandu to Gulmi. Operations have been hindered by difficulties brought up by the monsoon, such as cloud cover during flight hours.
Commercial planes started operating out of Resunga Municipality's Simichaur, Ward-10, airport last year. The airport's resumption of flights marks an important return to regular air service for the region.
