Five key highway sections remain closed after incessant rainfall
KATHMANDU: Five road sections across various highways remain closed after heavy rains on September 27 and 28 caused significant flooding and landslides. Despite efforts to clear the roads, several key routes remain completely blocked.
More than forty road sections that were previously impacted by the flooding have reportedly been reopened, according to police reports. Eight other portions are partially open for one-way traffic, while five crucial sections remain completely blocked.
Teams are being sent to clear the blocked roadways and get regular traffic back as quickly as possible, according to Deputy Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki.
The BP Highway's 420-kilometer mark at Roshi in Kavrepalanchowk, which is still totally closed, is the most badly damaged segment. To guarantee safe travel, authorities are concentrating on this and other important routes.
The BP Highway's Bhaikure, Seleghat in Ramechhap's Manthali Municipality-6, the Ramechhap-Sindhuli-Khurkot route in Bhotekoshi, the Bahrabiise-Tatopani road in Bhotekoshi, and the Baluwatar portion of the Jaiprithvi Highway in Bajhang are among the parts of road that are blocked.
Despite these closures, one-way traffic has been restored on several important roads. These include the Lele-Tika Bhairav section in Godavari, the Tinghare section of Madhyapahari Lokmarg in Tehrathum, the Ramite section of the Mechi Highway in Phidim, and the Kanti Lokpath in Bhimphedi.
Additional one-way routes include the Kaldhunga section of the BP Highway at Roshi, the Ghuwana section of Hanumangadhi, and the Benighat Krishnabhir section of the Prithvi Highway. Authorities are continuing efforts to fully reopen these roads.
