Sixth Indo-Nepal Friendship Shotokan Karate Championship set to kick off in Dhulikhel
KATHMANDU: The sixth Indo-Nepal Friendship Shotokan Karate Championship is set to take place in Dhulikhel, Kavrepalanchowk, starting from June 21. Organized by the Nepal Shotokan Karate Association, the two-day event will be held at the covered hall of Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel, and is expected to feature the participation of 600 athletes from Nepal and India.
During a news conference held in Banepa on Monday, it was revealed that the championship will see the involvement of 250 athletes representing 25 provinces of India and 350 athletes from 49 districts across Nepal. The event aims to foster friendly competition and camaraderie between the two nations through the platform of sports.
Hem Kumar Shrestha, the Chief Coach of the Association, emphasized that the championship serves the dual purpose of providing a platform for athletes to prepare for major international sporting events like the Asian Games and Olympics while also promoting goodwill and strengthening the bonds of friendship between Nepal and India through sportsmanship.
