Mountaineering revenue tops Rs 635 million from March to April
KATHMANDU: Between March 1 and April 29, a total revenue of Rs 635 million has been generated from mountain summits. The Department of Tourism released a report stating that this amount was collected from permits issued for ascending 30 different mountains during this period.
Dilip Kumar Maharjan, a section officer at the Department of Tourism, highlighted that the majority of this revenue, amounting to Rs 558 million, was generated from permits for Mount Everest alone. During the specified timeframe, the Department of Tourism granted permission for 102 teams, comprising 915 individuals, to summit the mountain.
