Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane's rape appeal under trial at Patan High Court
KATHMANDU: The Patan High Court is currently adjudicating cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane's appeal against the verdict of the Kathmandu District Court in a rape case. According to Advocate Saroj Krishna Ghimire, Sandeep's case is prioritized on today's cause list, indicating the ongoing legal proceedings despite encountering delays.
Initially, the Kathmandu District Court had handed Sandeep an 8-year prison sentence for his alleged involvement in a rape incident in Gaushala 26. In response, Sandeep filed an appeal with the Patan High Court, where the case has faced postponements on five occasions. However, despite these delays, the trial continues, highlighting the gravity and urgency surrounding the matter.
