Microsoft is bundling its AI-powered Office features into Microsoft 365 subscriptions
It appears that Microsoft is moving down from charging Microsoft 365 Personal and Home subscribers an redundant$ 20 per month for access to AI- powered Office features. Last week, the software mammoth still blazoned that Copilot Pro features would be part of Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscriptions, but presently only in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand."
It's been nine months since we introduced Skipper to consumers in Microsoft 365 apps through Copilot Pro, and we have spent that time adding new features, perfecting performance, and harkening precisely to client feedback," Microsoft said in a press release spotted by ZDNet. “ Grounded on this feedback, we’re bringing Skipper to our Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscriptions. ”
Microsoft is also adding its Microsoft developer app to Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscriptions in these select requests. “ Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers will admit a yearly pack of AI credits to use Skipper in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and developer, ” Microsoft says." Credits also apply to apps like Paint, prints, and Notepad on Windows." still, access to Skipper is limited to the subscription proprietor and can not be participated with other family members, If you have a Microsoft 365 Family subscription in any of these select requests.
Some Microsoft 365 Home and Family subscribers get further gratuities with their yearly subscription, but they are seeing an increase in price in exchange for Microsoft adding Copilot Pro. “ To reflect the value we’ve added over the once decade and to help us deliver new inventions in the times to come, we’re adding prices for Microsoft 365 Personal and Family, ” Microsoft said. “ The price increase will apply to being subscribers at their coming renewal. ”
Price increases vary across Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. For illustration, in Australia, Microsoft increased the cost of a Microsoft 365 Family subscription by A$ 4 per month, and A$ 5 for Personal, which is much lower than the A$ 33 Microsoft was preliminarily asking for Copilot Pro in Australia. Microsoft is precisely opting requests for what appears to be a test price increase for Microsoft 365 Home & Home, which will ultimately be rolled out to the US and European requests.
Either way, it's clear that Microsoft's Copilot Pro trial has been a failure. Paying a$ 20/ month subscription on top of your Microsoft 365 particular or Home subscription is always a big deal, and when I tried the service before this time, I did not suppose it was worth the$ 20/ month. I asked Microsoft if these Skipper changes affect Microsoft 365 Home and Family subscribers in the U.S. and why the company chose only those requests. Microsoft didn’t respond in time for publication.
