Petrol shortage grips Kathmandu as tanker drivers stage protest
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Petroleum Tanker Driver Association's protest has led to a petrol shortage in Kathmandu, Nepal's federal capital. As a result of the association's decision to halt petrol supply, privately operated petrol pumps in Kathmandu have been forced to close, as confirmed by Lelendra Pradhan, Chairman of the Nepal Petroleum Dealers Association.
In response to the scarcity, consumers have rushed to government-owned petrol pumps across Kathmandu since early Monday morning. Long queues have formed at stations such as Sajha Petrol Pump, Nepal Police Petrol Pump, and Armed Police Force Petrol Pump, where thousands of motorists are patiently waiting to refill their vehicles.
These government-operated petrol pumps have been using their own tankers to transport fuel, ensuring a continued supply amid the disruption caused by the protest.
