Bill Gates' message to IT professionals on AI: It will create employment.
In the debut episode of Zerodha founder Nikhil Kamat's new podcast series, ``People by WTF,'' Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates shared his insights on the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential impact on various industries, especially software engineering. Acknowledging the transformative power of artificial intelligence, Gates assured the audience that software engineers are unlikely to be replaced anytime soon.
"The amazing thing about this technology is that we know it can help in key areas, and we know it can create educational tutors. We have seen several projects in India and the US that are showing great results. If we know that all it does is increase productivity, its potential is incredible. When it comes to concerns that artificial intelligence could replace software engineers, Gates dismissed such concerns as "alarmism." Breathed a sigh of relief.
However, Gates admits that artificial intelligence has the potential to reach a level where it replaces all jobs, but he believes that this is unlikely to happen in the next two decades. "I'm not sure about that, though," he added, suggesting the long-term impact of artificial intelligence remains uncertain.
