Armed police officer dies during disaster rescue drill in Bajhang
KATHMANDU: During a disaster rescue drill in Bajhang, an armed police officer tragically lost his life after fainting. The deceased, identified as 29-year-old Narendra Singh Dhami from Kedasu Rural Municipality-7, collapsed on Monday morning during a model rescue drill near the Seti River, in close proximity to the Birbhadrajung Battalion of the Nepali Army located in Jayaprithvi Bahadur Municipality. Despite being swiftly transported to the district hospital for medical attention, doctors pronounced him dead. Bharat Shah, the DSP in Bajhang, was informed of the unfortunate incident.
Dhami, who was stationed at the Non-Resident Battalion of the Armed Police Force in Bajhang, was participating in a joint drill conducted by the Armed Police Force and the Nepal Army. The focus of the exercise was on rescuing civilians trapped in floods during natural disasters.
Kumar Nuaupane, the spokesperson for the Armed Police Force, noted that Dhami was an experienced rescuer in disaster management. Expressing surprise and concern over the incident, Nuaupane highlighted the unexpected nature of the tragedy, particularly involving an individual with Dhami's level of experience.
