Satish Kumar Singh claims Chief Minister post in Madhesh Province
KATHMANDU: Satish Kumar Singh from the Janamat Party has staked his claim for the Chief Minister (CM) position of Madhesh Province on Friday morning. Singh has secured backing from lawmakers of the CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), and CPN (Unified Socialist).
In total, Singh has the support of 55 lawmakers: 13 from the Janamat Party, 24 from the UML, nine from the Maoist Center, seven from the Unified Socialist, and one from the Nagarik Unmukti Party.
This move comes in response to Province Chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari's call for parties to propose candidates for the CM post after the outgoing CM, Saroj Kumar Yadav of the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, failed to win a vote of confidence on Wednesday.
