PM Oli urges action to address long queues at public hospitals
KATHMANDU: Concerned about lengthy patient lines at public hospitals, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasized the need for quick and easy care. In a discussion at the Council of Ministers and Office of the Prime Minister, PM Oli asked what actions are required to enhance patient care and shorten wait times.
PM Oli urged for better mobilization of doctors and health workers, highlighting the need for adequate facilities to support them. He criticized the practice of delaying patient examinations to after working hours and called for an end to the trend of not starting treatment before admission or denying care due to payment issues.
Additionally, PM Oli stressed the importance of making health insurance both practical and implementable. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel, Minister for Health and Population Pradip Poudel, Chief Secretary Liladevi Gadtaula, and other senior officials.
