PM Dahal leaving for India to attend Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony today
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' is set to travel to India today to attend the swearing-in ceremony of his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi. Dahal will depart for New Delhi this afternoon, leading a five-member delegation.
Accompanying Prime Minister Dahal will be his daughter Ganga Dahal, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Padam Giri, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, and other high-ranking government officials. Narendra Modi, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is scheduled to take the oath for his third term as Prime Minister this evening.
The Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi has indicated that a meeting between Prime Minister Dahal and Prime Minister Modi is planned for this evening following Modi's oath-taking ceremony. Prime Minister Dahal is anticipated to come back to Nepal the next day.
Prime Minister Dahal met with President Ram Chandra Paudel on Saturday to inform him about his upcoming visit to India. The decision for Dahal to attend Modi's swearing-in ceremony was made during the Council of Ministers meeting on Thursday. Prime Minister Dahal has already paid an official visit to India in May.
