Parliamentary hearing for Election Commissioner candidate postponed
KATHMANDU: The Federal Parliament's Parliamentary Hearing Committee decided to reschedule the hearing for Krishna Man Pradhan, the nominee for the open office of Election Commissioner. Chairman Pashupati Shumsher JBR said that the committee met with the complainants on Thursday before making this conclusion.
Chairman JBR stated that the committee received four complaints against Pradhan. Following the meeting with the complainants, serious concerns were raised, prompting the committee to postpone the hearing temporarily to thoroughly review the issues at hand.
Sources indicate that the complaints lodged against Pradhan include allegations of sexual abuse and other significant matters. These allegations have surfaced subsequent to the Constitutional Council's proposal of Pradhan, an expert in election observation, for the Election Commissioner position on June 16. The proposal was forwarded to the Federal Parliament Secretariat for parliamentary hearings, as required by constitutional procedures.
Krishna Man Pradhan, who resides in Tarakeshwar-3 Nuwakot, currently serves as the General Secretary of the General Election Observation Committee (GEOC) and Chairman of the Rural Development Foundation.
