Parliamentary Hearing Committee to decide on ambassador appointments on September 18
KATHMANDU: On September 18th, the Parliamentary Hearing Committee will be meeting to approve the proposed ambassadors. Committee member Ishwari Ghartimagar has announced that the meeting will be held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.
Prior to reaching a final decision, the committee was scheduled to hear from the 17 possible ambassadors on Sunday. However, the House of Representatives meeting compelled a postponement of the session, which caused the decision-making process to be postponed.
The committee had a conversation with Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, the foreign minister, after the hearing. Further discussions were prompted by concerns expressed throughout the sessions over the ambassador's proposals' inclusivity.
The committee also consulted legal experts about complaints filed against several of the proposed ambassadors. These consultations were aimed at addressing specific concerns regarding the candidates.
There are complaints against Dr. Netra Prasad Timsina, representing Malaysia; Shankar Prasad Sharma, representing India; Dhan Prasad Pandit, representing Israel; and Kapil Shrestha, representing South Africa. The committee is looking over these grievances right now.
The committee members have not yet come to a decision about the ambassadors who are the subject of complaints. It is anticipated that the talks will go on until a choice is reached.
The committee has to weigh the objections as well as the recommendations' general inclusivity, so the next meeting will be critical in deciding the destiny of the suggested ambassadors.
The appointed ambassadors will represent Nepal in their respective nations following the committee's decision, significantly influencing Nepal's diplomatic ties.
