Ministry halts employee transfer processes amid criticism and reform initiative
KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has implemented an immediate suspension on all employee transfer processes. In a notice released on Sunday, the ministry announced that all transfers of employees are halted until further notice.
The decision to suspend transfer activities was taken following a meeting of Nepal Government Secretaries on June 20, as detailed in the notice issued by Section Officer Suresh Shrestha of the Ministry. The objective behind this suspension is to establish transparent and orderly criteria for employee transfers.
Concerns had been raised regarding arbitrary transfers influenced by personal connections and salary considerations, which were reportedly causing disruptions in administrative operations. The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) underscored these issues in its 33rd annual report and recommended the cessation of such irregular transfer practices.
