Government forms 5 committees with designated coordinators and appoints key advisors
KATHMANDU: The government has established five committees within the Council of Ministers and appointed coordinators for each. The committees include political, administration, economic infrastructure, legislation, and social, as announced following a Council of Ministers meeting on Thursday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakashman Singh has been appointed as the coordinator of the political committee. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel will lead the economic infrastructure committee. Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has been assigned to head the administration committee.
In addition, Minister for Labor, Employment, and Social Security Sarat Singh Bhandari will coordinate the social committee, while Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak will lead the legislation committee. Bishnu Rimal has been named the chief political advisor to the Prime Minister, and Dr. Yubraj Khatiwada has been appointed as the economic advisor.
Spokesperson Gurung also announced that the Cabinet has approved the participation of Dr. Ganesh Prasad Pandey, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, in the 46th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, scheduled to be held in New Delhi starting July 21.
