CPN (UML) lawmaker urges Kathmandu Mayor to refrain from provocative remarks
KATHMANDU: CPN (UML) lawmaker Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai has called on the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balendra Shah, to avoid making provocative statements towards political leaders. During a special session of the House of Representatives today, Bhattarai expressed his disapproval of Mayor Shah's remarks, which he felt mocked the imprisonment of political leaders who played significant roles in achieving major political changes in the country.
Bhattarai emphasized that his party is ready to support Mayor Shah. He noted that the previous government, led by CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli, had extended support for waste management in the Kathmandu Valley. Addressing Mayor Shah, Bhattarai said, "What are your plans to enhance the beauty of Kathmandu? Let’s collaborate and work together. Please avoid participating in disorderly activities."
Furthermore, Bhattarai expressed confidence that the parliamentary probe committee, tasked with investigating cooperative fund fraud, would clarify policy-level issues concerning cooperatives. He assured that the UML was fully prepared to cooperate with any investigations into scams.
Finally, Bhattarai stated that the accusations against his party and its chairperson in the Giribandhu issue were premeditated. He also highlighted that many issues affecting the public were not being addressed due to the obstruction by the Nepali Congress in the House.
