Bagmati Province CM Bahadur Singh Lama seek vote of confidence today
KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party leader and recently appointed chief minister of Bagmati Province, Bahadur Singh Lama, is asking the province legislature for a vote of confidence today. The NC has directed its members to support Lama in the assembly meeting scheduled for 3 PM.
To retain his position, Lama needs the backing of at least 56 out of the 110 assembly members. He is expected to get the necessary votes with support from both the Nepali Congress and the UML. The assembly's composition includes 21 members from the CPN (Maoist Center), 13 from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (including the Speaker), seven from the CPN (Unified Socialist), three from the Nepal Workers Peasants Party, and two from the Hamro Nepali Party.
Lama was appointed by Province Chief Yadav Chandra Sharma on Tuesday, following the resignation of former Chief Minister Shalikram Jamakattel. His appointment was supported by 64 lawmakers from the NC and the CPN-UML.
